The Challenge:
A major independent power producer in Chile required a large-capacity step-up
transformer to connect a new generation facility to Chile's national 220kV
high-voltage transmission backbone. The unit had to meet the stringent
requirements of Chile's grid operator while integrating with the plant's
smart monitoring and control systems.
Our Solution:
This project represents one of Milestone's highest-capacity deliveries and
demonstrates our capability in extra-high-voltage (EHV) applications:
• 220kV / 425MVA three-phase, two-winding step-up transformer
• Low-loss amorphous or high-grade silicon steel core design
• Integrated smart monitoring: fiber optic temperature sensors,
online dissolved gas analysis (DGA), load tap changer monitoring
• Real-time data export compatible with client's SCADA system
• Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) witnessed by client's engineers
• Coordinated logistics: heavy-lift transport from factory to port,
then sea freight to Chile, inland transport to site
The Outcome:
• 425 MVA successfully stepped up to 220kV national grid
• Smart monitoring system enabled predictive maintenance
• Full SCADA integration completed within project schedule
• Plant reached commercial operation date (COD) on target
